When director Mikhail Nayfeld signed on to helm the romantic comedy On Hard Times, he envisioned an A-list funnyman in the lead role. “Someone like Jim Carrey, or at the very least, Ashton Kutcher,” he recalls.

But saddled with a $12 million budget, Nayfeld knew what was coming.

“My mom used to say when life hands you lemons, make lemonade.  And in show business, there’s no bigger lemon than Dax Shepard.”

Dax, whose body of work includes the box office bombs Let’s Go to Prison and Employee of the Month, is excited about his new project.

“I may never be as talented as Steve Carell or even Seth Green,” he told us, “but several of my films break even at the box office…and that’s something I’m really proud of.”

I pity the fool who doesn’t think Mr. T is a financial genius.

His signature mohawk made him famous, but what made him rich hung from his neck.  Gold.

“People used to say I was a dummy for buying all them chains, but they ain’t laughin’ now,” said the A-Team actor.

Mr. T told OMdoubleG he was ridiculed by friends and family in the early 80s, who told him he was wasting his money on the precious metal.  The tough guy famously purchased over 200 necklaces in 1983 alone.

“He was living in a studio apartment and had no car,” remembers former-girlfriend Courtney Hall. “I used to beg him to take me out to dinner, but he said he needed to save up so he could buy more gold.”

And buying more gold is exactly what he did.  Even in 1985, when the precious metal rose to nearly $280/ounce, he continued buying it against the wishes of his agent and financial advisors.  This week, gold topped $1600/ounce for the first time in history.

“The man’s a genius,” proclaimed famed investor Warren Buffett.  “No one in their right mind has ever disputed that fact.”

Bravo executives are calling the decision to base a reality show around a small, boring city in Northeastern Pennsylvania a “huge misjudgment.”

The Real Housewives of Scranton received a 0.3 rating last night, making it the least-watched show in the cable network’s history. In the key 18-34 demographic, the numbers were even worse.

The premiere (and final) episode’s most controversial moment occurred after the first commercial break, when 46-year-old star Janine Haas burned her finger removing an apple pie from the oven.  Her husband called the doctor, who recommended ointment be applied immediately.

“What were we thinking?” said show creator and executive producer Leonard German.  “We completely missed the mark on this one.”

“Being an a-hole all the time isn’t easy, so I’m taking the rest of the month off,” Kanye West announced this morning via his popular blog, ‘Kanye’s Korner.’ “If the mood strikes, I may even consider doing something charitable.”

No one was happier to hear the news than Kanye’s publicist, Alex van Hoek.

“I’m going to Disneyland!” exclaimed the 33-year old, grey-haired PR man. “No seriously, I haven’t taken my kids on vacation in over four years.”

West, whose erratic behavior has ranged from insulting the president to ruining various award shows, promised his fans he’d resume his dickish behavior on August 1st.
