CNN reported that a class action lawsuit was filed against Bethenny Frankel’s ‘Skinnygirl Margarita’ yesterday for falsely claiming it’s ingredients were “All Natural.” Today, actress Angelina Jolie filed her own lawsuit, claiming Frankel’s drink is a rip-off of her low-calorie beverage, ‘Skinny Juice.’
Jolie claims she came up with the idea for the drink while vacationing in Africa in 2006. After brushing her teeth in the local water, she picked up Cholera and lost 22 pounds in just under a week. Soon after, the actress created Angelina’s ‘Skinny Juice’ – unfiltered water bottled directly from Lake Tana in Ethiopia, mixed with natural fruit flavors and tequila.
The Oscar-winning actress’ says she told former-friend Frankel her idea in 2009, and within months ‘Skinnygirl’ hit shelves. She is seeking $20 million in damages, despite claims made by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention that Jolie’s version is “socially irresponsible and dangerous,” whereas Frankel’s variety is “perfectly safe, but tastes like sh*t.”
